A Polkapillar...
...Better known as Dot.
I had a wonderful conversation with Kenzie while we were making bugs out of pipe-cleaners and egg cartons. She likes to name things, but typically they end up being simple selections (i.e. "puppy" for a dog, "kitty-cat" for a cat, etc.) I am usually responsible for the more sophisticated names, like our buddy Robox, below.
While watching her scrunch her face up with concentration, coloring a half inch from her face, and a very near wrestling match with a pencil and a pipe-cleaner (trying to create spirals) we talked about a name for this guy. I was suggesting Polkapillar after watching her diligently create polka-dots. Maybe dottapillar, polky, catterpolka??? On and on I went....
Kenzie kept saying: "No, that's not right...." and remaining fairly silent.
After awhile, she sighed. Heavily. Making it clear that I was pushing her patience.
Then, after a pause...she said "why not DOT?"
Ah, but, of course!
