White Trash Mama
Slight differences in Doug and I’s parenting beliefs are beginning to shine through, with underlying shadows of humorous discrepancy. Doug finds things completely unacceptable that I have no concern in. Like letting Kenzie run around in only a diaper on warmish days. Typically, this is only inside, but if we head outdoors - I hardly bother myself with throwing clothes on to make her presentable. Doug cringes in horror, and insists she be clothed. I like that she might grow up with an unconcerned esteem about her body. That she might be comfortable in her skin.
I also think that digging in dirt and exploring her outside environment is good for her. Sure it has the potential to make an absolute mess, but she’s learning about textures, plant life, snails, and developing an imagination in how to best manipulate and engage with the dirt. I find it best that she do this... in just a diaper. This gives Doug a double dose of the cringes. I’d rather her be physically active in the dirt than begging for us to “pay” yet another Einstein video. I already do an immense amount of laundry, and would prefer avoiding more.
Dearest Kenzie, let me apologize now for programming you to be naked, just so I can support these theories and avoid the extra laundry. I imagine Daddy and I are both right, to some extent, so we’ll find a way to join in the middle somewhere.
