Belated Halloween Post
This Halloween seemed like it would -never- end. So many events. So many costumes. Thank goodness for a closet full of dress-up options, and the generosity of cousins and a neighbor. I just let her choose what she wished to be at each event. As crafty as I am, I'm surprised that I have never had an urge to make her costume. I did however sever the head of the unicorn from the body - as she was too tall for the costume originally.
We got dressed up for a Library story hour (she was a lion which I did not photograph), we got dressed up for Night of the Living Farm at a petting zoo (she was a unicorn, I was the ScArY Mama in the hat):
We got dressed up for (a joke of) a neighborhood Halloween parade (a unicorn again),
And finally on the real deal Halloween - she was Minnie Mouse. She did begin discarding bits of the costume during our rounds of the neighborhood. The ears were the first to go..then the gloves..but by golly, she was happy to carry all 10 gallons of that candy. all. by. herself.
This year was fun, as she got "it." She was excited and looked forward to all the candy collecting and begging. She loved it! She got more aggressive at each door with her "Trick-or-Treat" yells and greedy little mitted hands reaching toward that candy.
Fortunately, she doesn't pay too much attention to the bucket-o-candy she collected (or bags we had left over. We expected a huge run on candy judging from the population of kids in the 'hood, but ended up with a lot of left-overs).
Although, I can't say the same about her father.....
