Feeling yuck
Kenzie has had a runny nose the past few days, and apparently has some kind of virus. This past weekend was exhausting as she hasn't slept through the night once in the last week. She calls out "!!Mommy!!" from her crib and means it. She'll keep calling until I go in, lay her down, turn on her aquarium crib toy and tuck her under the blankets. Although this is a pretty quick task - I have developed a wee bit of insomnia and haven't been able to get back to sleep very quickly.
I've noticed with time (and Doug's absence) that she is becoming more aware of where I am - and is not accepting of sudden disappearances. The night-time calls are indeed caused by the illness interrupting her sleep - but are also motivated by her want for assurance that I haven't suddenly disappeared like her Daddy. My poor baby. And, of course, I'm enabling this to continue by repeat trips in there..but I think it needs to be done.
With the cold came a decrease and then surge in appetite. Kenzie typically loves pizza, as long as it's on thin crackery crust. She requested pizza tonight, so we made one together. This Mama foolishily thought that if Kenzie helped make it - it might assure she'd eat some of it.
Not a sliver hit her lips.
But, she did enjoy piling mounds of ingredients onto the crust.
Last night, she woke up four times - before I tired of the treks into her room and returning to my bed to stare at the ceiling. Instead, I brought her into bed with me, which immediately cured the wake-ups. Kenzie slept sideways, politely allowing me an uncomfortable sliver at the side of the bed. She layed her little head on my shoulder and slept that way until morning. I can't say that I slept very well, as the heat from our bodies caused each of us to sweat - but I was afraid to move..until the alarm went off. Had I actually been sleeping - I would have been smiled at 'sleeping in,' but of course, I was lying awake and noticing my...
scratchy and sore throat, stuffy head, and sinus pressure. And extreme tiredness...
