Kenzie's doodle: Lion in a Flower Jungle
As described here, I joined another art blog that showcases collaborated pieces between parent and child. The originator, Holli Conger, started what she calls "junk-a-doodles" which for lack of a better idea (that fits in with my preference for textile art), I've mimicked. Here's what we did: Find a big pile o' {small} junk. Ask the child what you are making. Today, Kenzie announced we'd make: a lion in a flower jungle! BTW, Bunny was supposed to help. Thankfully, he lost interest in the project moments into it.
Kenzie worked the junk over with art supplies. This was completely self-directed. I only stepped in, when paint puddles began to build.
I tried very, very, very hard to let Kenzie do all the painting. Rather than changing what she painted - when it didn't work, I had her go back and revise it (mainly, the blue section).
I turned the bits and bobs into artwork. This was SO MUCH FUN. It ate up most of the morning painting all the pieces. I worked on putting the scene together while Nana & Poppy had Kenzie for lunch. When she came back home, she animatedly told me where things "should be. INSTEAD." (of where I put them). I rearranged them, & talked her into a few of my ideas. And...Voila!
She was so excited about the finale that she had to "show her friends" which you'll see lined up around the edges, admiring our work.
If you like art with kids.... You'll love this. We'll contribute one collaborative piece each week (most likely on Wednesdays, unless there is another rainy day - like today - forecasted, which may require some indoor entertainment.) Now, I just have to figure out what do with them all. Her walls are already a bit full.

Great job. It looks like a lot of fun. Wonder how successful a Kenie-Doodle etsy shop would be? That is if you could part with any of the art.
