Sugar cookied chaos..
Ever tried to turn a toddler into a chef?
I received some really neat Williams Sonoma animal shaped cookie cutters as a gift for hosting a shower. They've been a frequently used "toy" for Kenzie, until we finally put them to use this weekend.
Making the dough was an event. Keeping Doug from eating it raw, and Kenzie from adding ingredients such as car keys, drink coasters, and spatulas - was such a feat. We threw Kenzie up on the butcher block island and allowed her to assist in building & mixing the dough. We had to chill it for a few hours...and then... all hell broke loose.
Of course, you lightly flour the counter as you build and cut the cookies..which means we lightly floured our toddler and anything in a 10 foot proximity. We used the cookie cutters to create really cool animals - and then beheaded them when she flopped down another cutter in the exact SAME spot. Then the pink, purple and yellow sugar sprinkles flew. Handfuls of colored sugar..sprinkled everywhere. And that my friends..was the result of successfully preparing ONLY 4 cookies.
Then...of course...she lost interest and was ready to go outside. Mama was drug along, leaving Doug to finish the cookie creating by default. Amazingly, no toddlers or parents were injured in this activity...and the cookies were delicious!!
