A view from the window seat: A Weekend Summary.
This weekend we kept busy doing things we wanted to do rather than “needed” to do. We needed that....
Friday, we went out to dinner and ended up with a toddler hopped up on sugar after a dose of ice cream. Never before have I seen her head spin with such momentum. At bedtime, she road her Rocking Snail with such enthusiasm...sitting sideways. At bedtime, she zonked like a puddle of concrete.
Saturday morning (after sleeping in until 7:08!!), we hung at out home and colored before Kenzie’s nap. Kenzie has taken to requesting via sign language what she’d like the parent (assigned as artist) to create for her. We had a great laugh when she asked Doug to draw her a dog – & then she made it clear that it turned out looking more like a duck. Saturday-day, we decided to go to Julian for a Bluegrass festival. Much to our chagrin, upon arriving at 3:00 we learned that the festival was closing at 5:00. We didn’t consider the tickets to be a good value for only two hours worth of music, on hilly DIRT landscape – so we headed on to the downtown area and did some shopping. Doug bought Kenzie a miniature little Diva purse, which she carried proudly for the rest of the weekend. We had a super great dinner at a cute little outdoor cafe (narrowly escaping hornet attacks), and then hit the winding roads to return home. We revisited dinner when Kenzie projectile vomited it midway home. The poor dear made it clear that the winding torture of the roads was too much for her. Fortunately, she got home and went straight to bed without further incident.
Sunday, we went to Coronado to use the city park. Kenzie practiced her soccer skills and slid down a double wide slide (with Mama), oh, say...37 times.
We had another lunch at an outdoor cafe and returned home where she watched football with Daddy,
wearing her princess costume.
She most enjoys batting objects (namely parents) with her Princess wand.
She’s still learning princess etiquette.
It was a weekend of fun and relaxation. No chores. My only regret is that the house looks like heck today!!
