I insist that you be introspective today!
The part of me that is a know-it-all social worker is authoring this post -- with an important lesson attached.
Occasionally, when meeting with parents - I dislike them as a 'person' (and therefore disagree with elements of their parenting approach) so much that I need to find a manipulative way to tell them so. These types of people don't often respond to verbal suggestions of how to do better. So, I often look for a back-up source to 'beat them over the heads' with because "I thought they might enjoy another sources reference to the issue we discussed" {i.e. the note I always attach to the educational tool I'm providing}. Today's lesson is: How to talk NICELY to your children.
I was thrilled when I learned of this story through a weekly newsletter I receive. Parents! Travel to the link (click on the 3 colored dots at the top left of this post) -- and I want to hear from each and every parent who does not feel a slight tug of guilt at the end! (Sarcasm). What honest, heartfelt, and important thoughts.
