When your playdate wishes to spend the date chasing cats, sometimes it's necessary to DISTRACT with a little paint.

St. Patty's parade
We hit the St. Patty's Day parade this year and Kenzie found herself in a prime location for candy catching. We were a little late, but got to walk down the middle of a deserted {and typically VERY BUSY} street to get there. After the parade finale, we hit Waldo Pizza for dinner at 3:00 in the afternoon. California Vacay
The flight out was uneventful with exception to the fact that both kids had colds. The landing brought a lot of pressure to Kenzie's ears which was frightening, but alleviated with one big belch when we grounded. But, once we grounded - the fun began...although I wouldn't peg it as one of the more relaxing trips we've ever taken. :) Rylan was a lot of work for me, especially in a lovely home with fun things to dismantle!
Kenzie and Nana had the beach all to themselves the first night we arrived..
Mimi bought the kids pinwheels which provided many spinning opportunities...
There were several beach visits. We hunted shells, ran for miles, and just enjoyed the California sun... Kenzie ended up drenched on several visits after befriending the ocean again.
We visited a Botanical Gardens and wandered around all the lush greenery, stopping for a snuggle with Nana on some exposed tree roots...
Kenzie helped out with making an evenings dinner, taking the salad building VERY seriously. After about 30 minutes, she'd finally de-stemmed enough spinach for a large bowl...
We visited the Polliwog park in Manhattan Beach. We brought bread and fed the fowl, a lot. And..then...we noticed the signage stating you weren't supposed to do that. Oops.
The time change was a bit rough...finding us awake at about 5:00-5:30 a.m. each morning. That's not my favorite time to be up, that's for sure. But, Kenzie didn't mind getting an early jump on the day. Of course...after each days fun - she was exhausted waiting for dinner, and soon cashed out afterwards. Often..doing so in a puddle on the couch....
Kenzie was sad to leave and has already asked numerous times when we can go back. Me too.
