Advent 2007
I feel as if I've been busy running myself in circles. Things have calmed down a bit recently, and I'm playing catch-up in all aspects of my life. It's December 1 and although I've got the house fully glammed up for Christmas and the majority of our Christmas gifts purchased - I haven't gotten our Advent festivities in order. Yet, the child has already begun the "when will Christmas get here" questioning, so I best get on the ball!
Our newly compiled list of Advent activities will include:
1. Take annual photo of family reflected in Christmas ball
2. Get a Christmas-y pedicure at a salon (a luxury this pregnant mama is looking forward to!)
3. Use Christmas Cookie Cutters on Breakfast Toast
4. Make a gift for kenzie’s teacher
5. Have hot chocolate with candy cane stirs
6. Make Cinnamon Cider and Fried Snowflakes
7. Have a picnic under the Christmas tree
8. Get a fancy hot chocolate at Starbucks
9. Write letters to Santa
10. Cut snowflakes from wrapping paper, festive holiday advertisements, or last year’s holiday cards, and string them together into a festive garland.
11. Donate a Toy to a Charity Christmas Tree
12. Dance like crazy to Christmas music
13. Watch a Christmas movie with popcorn
14. Take a drive (or walk) to see Christmas lights
15. Make a snowman out of paper (or snow)
16. Learn how to say Merry Christmas in sign language
17. Make peanut butter pinecones to feed birds.
18. Visit Santa at the Mall….and maybe even sit on his lap?
19. Paint Kenzie's face like Rudolph.
20. Color Christmas pictures for the grandparents & cousins.
21. Start a Christmas-themed puzzle.
22. Make art from our Christmas cards
23. Make Christmas Candy or cookies.
24. Read a Christmas story, open one gift, and leave out milk and cookies for Santa.
Last year we did a paper chain, with an activity per link. This year, we're using this very store-boughten advent calendar, with an activity per pocket. We'll draw one per day and commence with that activity.
We also have a lot of additional neighborhood and family events to add into the mix. Last year was difficult to photograph and blog each event, so this year it may be a Advent in picture form. We'll see what time permits.
Since I was still piddling around with the advent activities and Calendar on the first day of Advent, we did some Snowman finger puppets to get us into the winter holiday spirit...
